REPORTS OF REGULAR COMMITTEES
FROM: COURTS & PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE -- 1.1 SEPTEMBER 18, 2001
Your committee has considered communication no. 9-18-9 from
Sheriff Charles Brown requesting authorization to accept a
continuation grant from the Office of Highway Safety Planning in
the amount of $38,000 for Fiscal Year 2002.
This grant, designated for overtime enforcement activities, will
be used to enforce speed, OUIL, seat belt and intersection laws.
The Sheriff Department will manage the project. No matching funds
are required.
We recommend approval for the Sheriff Department to accept the
grant funds from the Office of Highway Safety Planning, as
outlined; further, that the proper County Officials be authorized
and directed to sign the necessary documents on behalf of the
County, subject to review by the Controller as to substance and
Counsel as to legal form, and to amend the budget accordingly.
