programs, events for under-privileged children and its various<br />

cultural, human rights and educational projects; and,<br />

WHEREAS, Dr. King, a man dedicated to the principles of human<br />

dignity, justice and equality forever changed the course of our<br />

Nation, with peace, freedom, and justice for all; and,<br />

WHEREAS, The guest speaker of Sunday's tribute to Dr. King is<br />

Judge Ramona Roberts, 68th District Court, in Flint, Michigan;<br />

and,<br />

WHEREAS, <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> joins the membership of Phi Delta Kappa,<br />

Inc., in welcoming Judge Roberts and in commemorating the birthday<br />

of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.<br />

NOW, THEREFORE, I Robert L. Fish, Chairman of the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

Board of Commissioners do hereby proclaim January 14, <strong>2001</strong> as:<br />

"MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY" in the <strong>County</strong> of <strong>Saginaw</strong> and in<br />

doing so we encourage all citizens, organizations and schools to<br />

recognize this special day with programs, ceremonies and<br />

educational activities.<br />

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the<br />

seal of the <strong>County</strong> of <strong>Saginaw</strong> to be affixed this 9th day of<br />

January in the year of Our Lord two thousand and one.<br />

Chairman Fish designated January 15 - 19, <strong>2001</strong> as OIC of<br />

Metropolitan <strong>Saginaw</strong> Week in <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong>.<br />

PROCLAMATION<br />

WHEREAS, The Opportunities Industrialization Center of<br />

Metropolitan <strong>Saginaw</strong> is a community based organization, dedicated<br />

to the development of human resources; and,<br />

WHEREAS, Since March of 1970 through December of 2000, the<br />

Opportunities Industrialization Center of Metropolitan <strong>Saginaw</strong> has<br />

served more than 65,735 residents in <strong>Saginaw</strong>, Bay, Midland and the<br />

surrounding communities, trained more than 10,715 citizens in<br />

pre-vocational and vocational training, and placed more than 4,665<br />

citizens in meaningful employment benefitting the community by<br />

over $79,881,001; and,<br />

WHEREAS, The Opportunities Industrialization Center of<br />

Metropolitan <strong>Saginaw</strong>, in alliance with the <strong>Saginaw</strong> Board of<br />

Education, established a program to assist the troubled youth who<br />

are currently under long term suspensions from the public school<br />

system, so they may gain credit and return to their school upon<br />

completion of the program called Project Rescue; and,<br />

WHEREAS, This energetic and accountable organization will commence<br />

its 2000-<strong>2001</strong> annual community fund raising campaign through a<br />

dinner on Friday, January 19, <strong>2001</strong>, at the <strong>Saginaw</strong> Civic Center;<br />

and,<br />

WHEREAS, Appropriate acknowledgment should be given to the<br />

Opportunities Industrialization Center of Metropolitan <strong>Saginaw</strong> for<br />

its extraordinary community contributions and for the prolonged<br />
