RESOLUTION C MARCH 27, <strong>2001</strong><br />

RE: SUPPORTING A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF<br />

NATURAL RESOURCES FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE SAGINAW VALLEY RAIL<br />

TRAIL<br />

At a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the<br />

<strong>County</strong> of <strong>Saginaw</strong>, State of Michigan, held at <strong>Saginaw</strong>, Michigan,<br />

on the 27th day of March <strong>2001</strong>.<br />

PRESENT --- Raymond F. Bartels, Thomas A. Basil, Robert D. Blaine,<br />

Jeanine A. Collison, Robert L. Fish, Eddie F. Foxx, James M.<br />

Graham, Todd M. Hare, Kenneth B. Horn, Richard F. Mallette,<br />

Michael P. O'Hare, Carl E. Ruth, Connie D. Smith, Robert M. Woods<br />

Jr., Patrick A. Wurtzel<br />

ABSENT --- none<br />

Commissioner Hare offered the following resolution and moved<br />

its adoption. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Collison.<br />

WHEREAS, The <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Parks & Recreation Commission<br />

acting through the <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Commissioners strives<br />

to meet the recreational needs of the residents of <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong>;<br />

and,<br />

WHEREAS, The Parks Commission and its staff have analyzed the<br />

cultural and physical resources of <strong>Saginaw</strong> <strong>County</strong> including<br />

existing park land inventories and have identified the current<br />

recreation deficiencies; and,<br />

WHEREAS, The Park Commission has sought public input through<br />

a variety of channels in establishing goals and objectives that<br />

address identified recreation deficiencies; and,<br />

WHEREAS, The Parks Commission has transformed its goals and<br />

objectives into a logical plan of action for parks, recreation<br />

facility development and open space preservation; and,<br />

WHEREAS, The Parks Commission plans to file an application to<br />

the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for grant funds for<br />

development of an equestrian trail and for construction of a<br />
