The White Book named ‘ The CommonTransportation Policy for the year 2010: Time to Decide’ published inSeptember 2001 by the European Commission has a significant role in EUtransportation policy. The Southeast passage of European TransportationNetworks is planned to connect EU countries to Sea of Azov, Egypt and Red Seaover the Balkans and Turkey. Moreover, the interconnection of Balkan countriesto Russia, Iraq, Persia and Persian Bay is in the scope of this passageway. Pan-European Transportation Passages, Europe- Caucasia-Asia TransportationPassage (Traceca Project) called new Silk Road Project in addition to SouthEast European Collective Initiative (SECI), are in the 600-billion- dollarmerchandise flow transit point between Europe and Far East. Due to thispossessed strategic position, it has the potential to be the most important andvaluable logistic base of this geography.In this study, the place of Balkan countries in international transportationpassages of EU has been investigated, and concerning the transportation issueof EU, it has been observed that new member countries usually experiencedproblems in terms of adapting to infrastructure standards, and this remainslimited on paper on some points of the projects.Key Words: European Union Transportation Projects, Balkans, Logistics1.
