consultation measures will comply with federal and provincial regulations, best practices,and internal company policies.CONSULTATION PROGRAMCommunity engagement and consultation are fundamental to the success of theproposed Project. Since 2011, consultation has been ongoing with the Nisga’a Nation,Tahltan Nation, Skii km Lax Ha, as well as other First Nations, and will continue to takeplace. Pretivm will participate in all BC Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) technicalworking group meetings, which are comprised of government agencies, First Nations, andNisga’a Nation. Pretivm has and will continue to undertake engagement andconsultation activities with government agencies (provincial, federal, and local), FirstNations, and the Nisga’a Nation, as well as the public and other interested parties duringthe EA process as well as each phase of the Project lifecycle. As part of the BC EAprocess, consultation plans for both Nisga’a Nation and First Nations will be defined anddeveloped for the EA pre-application and post-application periods. Aboriginal, public, andgovernment consultation efforts will include a variety of engagement methods includingprivate meetings, community meetings and open houses, information distributionactivities (i.e. communications and outreach materials), and site tours.Since 2011, Pretivm has initiated project and company introductions, a series of followupmeetings, and regularly disseminated relevant information with the potentiallyaffected Nisga’a nation and First Nation groups. Engagement, information sharing, andconsultation will continue during the planning and regulatory review as well as theconstruction, operations, and closure phases. A consultation record has been developed,which is being maintained and reviewed to enable and strengthen ongoing relationshipbuilding and issue tracking.CONSULTATION GROUPSNisga’a Nation and First NationsPretivm has established a relationship and will continue to engage and consult withNisga’a Nation and First Nations, as identified by the provincial government’s Section 11Order as well as the Metis Nation of BC as indicated in the federal government’senvironmental impact statement (EIS) guidelines. Pretivm has also providedopportunities for First Nations employment during exploration and environmentalbaseline studies through Tsetsaut Ventures Ltd., a First Nations-owned contractingcompany. Ongoing consultation efforts will aim to engage both the leadership andcommunity membership and attempt to resolve potential issues and concerns as theyarise. No substantive issues have been raised to date regarding the Project.GovernmentPretivm will engage and collaborate with the federal, provincial, regional, and municipalgovernment agencies and representatives as required with respect to topics such as:land and resource management, protected areas, official community plans (OCPs),environmental and social baseline studies, and effects assessments.
