TheProperty is located in the Boundary Range of the Coast Mountain physiographic beltalong the western margin of the Intermontane tectonic belt. The climate is typical ofnorthwestern BC, with cool, wet summers <strong>and</strong> relatively moderate but wet winters. Theoptimum field season is from late June to mid-October.The widely varying terrain hosts a broad range of ecosystems. Its rivers are home to allfive species of Pacific salmon, as well as trout <strong>and</strong> Dolly Varden char. Black <strong>and</strong> grizzlybears frequent the forests; moose <strong>and</strong> migratory birds can be found in the wetl<strong>and</strong>s.Mountain goats are common in the alpine areas. The tree line is at approximately1,200 masl. The Project is centred on the VOK Zone deposit, which is located southwestof Brucejack Lake at 1,400 masl.<strong>Pretivm</strong> has undertaken baseline studies of the regional project area’satmosphere/climate, surface hydrology, aquatics, water <strong>and</strong> sediment, limnology, <strong>and</strong>fish habitat. <strong>Pretivm</strong> will also initiate comprehensive baseline studies of rockgeochemistry, soils, vegetation, <strong>and</strong> wildlife to characterize the local <strong>and</strong> regionalecosystem prior to major disturbances. Archaeology, heritage, l<strong>and</strong> use, cultural,Traditional Knowledge, <strong>and</strong> socioeconomic baseline studies have also been carried out tocharacterize the regional human environment. The methodologies for the baselinestudies have been developed based upon st<strong>and</strong>ard procedures recommended bygovernment agencies <strong>and</strong> professional experience.CLIMATEThe climate of the Iskut region is relatively extreme <strong>and</strong> daily weather patterns areunpredictable. Prolonged clear sunny days can prevail during the summers.Precipitation in the region is approximately 1,600 to 2,100 mm annually. The majority ofprecipitation falls during the autumn <strong>and</strong> winter months, from October to April. Estimatesshow that Brucejack Lake receives approximately 70% of its annual precipitation onaverage during this period. The months of October through to January typically have thehighest monthly precipitation amounts, while late spring or early summer months aretypically much drier.
