5.3 Hardware properties Example properties are shown below: Figure 5-3 File Import properties for .par files To browse, click once on the Value field next to Import file, and click the browse button that appears. Select .par as file type and browse to the file. Filter informs about the type of data is has found at the specified location. It can be either BURSTware, FLOware or SIZEware. Selected columns line lists the data types available in the file(s) to import. You can select all or parts of the list to import. For example, if the files contain data from a two channel measurement, you can select data from one of the channels only if you wish. This is specified by tick marks in the drop down list accessed from the value field. It is recommended always to include the Status from all processor channels. File extension specifies the first file to import, if the .par file selected is for a measurement with multiple positions. Burstware automatically generates file extensions for the individual positions .000, .001, ... .00a, ...00z, 010, ...ZZZ. If you are interested in a single position among many, specify the data file’s extension for that position in the File extension line. If you are interested in all positions (typically for velocity profile and vector plots), specify .ZZZ as the Last file (extension). If you are only interested in the file specified in the File extension line, leave the Last file (extension) blank. If Validate Samples is Yes/On, only valid samples will be imported. The BSA F/P Application controls hardware communication and data acquisition, and the measurement positions, the traverse mesh. The left hand part of the window controls the hardware settings. The properties of the hardware are displayed in the Property editor upon selection of the hardware in the Device list. These properties are explained in section 5.3 to 5.7.2. The generation of measurement positions, and the linking between these and hardware settings takes place in the right hand part of the window. This is described in section 5.7.8. 5.3.1 Output properties Figure 5-4 Access to properties When clicking on one of the icons in this window, the associated usercontrollable properties will be shown in the Property Editor. The output properties show the resulting settings of the hardware. When a property is changed, the affected output properties will be highlighted in red. If you cannot see the Region List, right-click in the window and select Restore View Defaults. The processor properties depend on the processor model. Optics and traverse parameters are identical for all processors (PDA optics properties apply only to BSA P processors). As a help to set up the BSA, the System Monitor window is available. This is described in section 5.3.4. To get an overview of all current properties for hardware, look at the Output properties part in the bottom of the BSA F/P Application window.
