These properties determine the minimum <strong>and</strong> maximum values on the X-, Y-<br />

<strong>and</strong> Z-axis respectively. If the properties X Scaling, Y Scaling <strong>and</strong> Z<br />

Scaling are set to Automatic, the minimum <strong>and</strong> maximum values will be<br />

adjusted automatically to match the data shown.<br />

X Scaling, Y Scaling, Z Scaling<br />

These properties can be either Automatic or Manual, with Automatic being<br />

the default setting. When scaling is set to Automatic, the minimum <strong>and</strong><br />

maximum values of the axis in question will be automatically adjusted<br />

according to the data, while Manual scaling, means that the user specifies<br />

minimum <strong>and</strong> maximum-values manually.<br />

The default setting Automatic ensures that all samples are included in the<br />

initial plot, while subsequently the user can zoom in on areas of specific<br />

interest by switching to manual scaling. Whenever the user changes a<br />

minimum or maximum value manually, the scaling of the corresponding axis<br />

will switch to Manual.<br />

X Axis Logarithmic & Y Axis Logarithmic<br />

These properties can be either Yes/On or No/Off, with No/Off being the<br />

default setting. As the name implies, these properties determines whether the<br />

corresponding axis should be logarithmic or linear.<br />

Only positive values can be plotted on a logarithmic axis, <strong>and</strong> consequently<br />

negative values will be ignored.<br />

The Vector Plot does not have these properties.<br />

Transpose<br />

This property is only available for Profile Plot. It can be either Yes/On or<br />

No/Off, with No/Off being the default setting.<br />

When active, Transpose swaps the X <strong>and</strong> Y axes of a profile plot. This may<br />

be useful for aligning the plot with the physical experiment.<br />

Example: a vertical velocity profile through a horizontal jet would default be<br />

shown with the position as X axis <strong>and</strong> the velocity as Y axis (Figure 6-8),<br />

but in the real world the traversing was along a vertical axis. In this case a<br />

transposed plot is more intuitive (Figure 6-9).<br />
