5.11.1 Data Properties
Note that the histogram window may contain several histograms
simultaneously if multiple inputs are selected in the dialogs in Figure 5-51.
The Data properties define how many bins are used in the histogram, how
the results are displayed (Count, Percentage or Cumulative) and whether the
mean, RMS or 3xRMS is marked in the histogram.

Bins The property Bins determine the number of bins created between XMin and
Xmax. If the number of bins is too low, the resulting histogram will appear
coarse, while too many bins may result in very few or even no samples
within each bin, so that the distribution of samples cannot be recognized
properly.
Result The property Result can be set for velocity histogram to Count number,
Counts percent, Counts Cumulative Percent, Probability Density
Function and for particles size histogram (PDA) to Counts number,
Counts percent, Counts Cumulative Percent, Probability Density
Function, Surface Percent, Surface Cumulative Percent, Volume
Percent, Volume Cumulative Percent. The Result properties define the
Y-Axis of the histogram.
• Count Number shows total number of samples within each bin.
• Counts percent shows the percentage of all samples within each bin.
• Counts Cumulative Percent shows the cumulative percentage of
velocity samples lower than or equal to the value on the X-axis.
• Probability Density Function or frequency function shows the
velocity or diameter particle frequency within each bin. It is in µm -1
• Surface Percent (for PDA only) shows the equivalent particle
surface within each bin in percent of the total equivalent surface.
• Surface Cumulative Percent (for PDA only) shows the cumulative
percentage of equivalent particle surface lower than or equal to the
value on the X-axis
