4.7.3 View menu Figure 4-17 The View menu The View menu controls which elements are displayed on the screen. You can hide or show the following elements (please refer to the beginning of this chapter) • The Toolbar • The Status Bar • The Project Explorer • The Message Window • The Property Editor The last three can also be hidden or shown using tool buttons, see section 4.6. Synchronize Is grey (disabled) per default. If Automatic synchronization is set to Off under the Tools - Options – Advanced menu, it becomes active when a window in the workspace is selected. Synchronize means that the object (in the project explorer) corresponding to the highlighted view (in the workspace) is selected. If synchronize is not selected, the object highlighted in the project explorer remains the same irrespective of which view is selected in the workspace. Figure 4-18 The Select Position dialog This is used to specify the position, from which the object should display data. If All available positions is ticked, the view will update display data from all positions sequentially. This is useful during acquisition, in order to monitor the data quality. If All available positions is not ticked, a position number must be specified. The number refers to the order in which data was acquired. The number corresponds to the line number of the layout view. For off-line analysis of data, it is often practical to select a single position at a time. This command can only be activated from objects representing data from a single position (i.e. not Moments and child objects of Moments). Next & Previous Next is used to change to the next position in a traverse mesh and Previous to the previous position. If only one position (single point measurement) is present the command has no effect. If the selected object represents data from many positions (e.g. moments, profile plots), these commands cannot be activated. Functions the same way as the left and right arrow buttons in the tool bar. Previous view If a plot (Histogram, 2D plot, Vector plot etc.) is active in the workspace and you have zoomed in, the plot can be zoomed one step back using this command. Restore view If a plot is repeatedly zoomed in, this function can be used to zoom out to the original scale. Properties shows the Object Properties dialog for the active object in the project explorer. It has General and Summary tabs with similar functions as described under the File menu. In the lower left corner of the General view there is a check box for saving data in the current object. You can save disk space by un-checking this. Some objects (e.g. Transform) require frequent disk access if this check box is checked, and hence both data acquisition and off-line analysis may speed up considerably if it is un-checked.Raw data from the source is always stored, so there is no loss of information by un-checking this box.
