PM <strong>and</strong> Bragg cell connections<br />

Warning Switch off the processor before connecting cables to it.<br />

Do not hold the photo-multipliers by h<strong>and</strong> when the high voltage is switched<br />

on.<br />

The number of channel <strong>and</strong> the way to connect depend on the system<br />

configuration. The following table gives the different configurations:<br />

PC connection<br />

• Connect the 57X08 photomultiplier to connectors High Voltage, PM<br />

Aux. <strong>and</strong> PM In. Each velocity channel has its PM Aux connector in the<br />

upper half of the rear panel, <strong>and</strong> three connectors in an input module in<br />

the lower half. A label at the right h<strong>and</strong> side of the rear panel indicates<br />

the connector names.<br />

• Connect the Bragg cell to the connector Bragg Cell 40 MHz in the upper<br />

left. If your optical system requires a different Bragg dell drive<br />

frequency, the connector Bragg Cell Var. can be used. This output does<br />

not include DC supply to the Bragg cell amplifier, which must be<br />

supplied from elsewhere.<br />

• To connect the PDA receiving optics to the detector unit, please refer to<br />

chapter 7.5 of this manual.<br />

• To use a DualPDA detector unit <strong>and</strong> optics in FiberPDA configuration,<br />

please refer to chapter 7.5 of this manual.<br />

• Mount the Ethernet card supplied with the <strong>BSA</strong> in a free slot in the PC,<br />

<strong>and</strong> install its driver.<br />

• Connect the supplied point-to-point Ethernet cable between the RJ42<br />

connector <strong>and</strong> the Ethernet network interface card in the PC.<br />

Shutter <strong>and</strong> optical fibre connection (for PDA measurements only)<br />

• Connect the BNC cable between shutter connector on the detector unit<br />

<strong>and</strong> the connector Programmable output 2 on the processor.<br />

• Connect the calibration optical fibre between the Cal. Input on the<br />

detector unit <strong>and</strong> the Calibration Fibre Connector on the processor.<br />
