Warning Please observe strict security rules when operating the LDA or PDA system<br />

remotely to avoid injury <strong>and</strong> eye damage:<br />

An Emergency Stop button must be accessible near the traverse system.<br />

The room with the measurement system must be locked, or the measurement<br />

system must be shielded to avoid that a person can approach it .<br />

A flashing warning light should indicate that the system is running.<br />

Please observe laser safety rules as well, see chapter 1.<br />

Set-up of the local PC<br />

Set-up for remote operation is chosen in the Dantec Device Configuration:<br />

On the local PC, select Traverse System <strong>and</strong> click on Properties<br />

To enable remote control of the traverse, check the Use TCP/IP Network<br />

box <strong>and</strong> specify the Address of the remote PC, either with the PC’s name<br />

on the network, or with it’s IP-address.<br />

If you do not know the IP address of the remote PC, please follow the steps<br />

explained in section 0<br />

Finding the IP address or name of the remote PC<br />

IP adress: If you do not know the IP address of the remote PC, you can do the<br />

following:<br />

On the remote PC, click Windows’ Start button – select Run… <strong>and</strong> type cmd<br />

in the comm<strong>and</strong> line to start a comm<strong>and</strong> window. Type ipconfig to get<br />

information about the IP address. Type the IP address in the Address field in<br />

the above dialog box.<br />

Name: To find the name of the PC, go to the Windows Control Panel couble-click<br />

the System icon – select the Network Indentification tab to see the Full<br />

computer name <strong>and</strong> domain. The full computer name includes the domain<br />

name, e.g. LDAXP.dantecdynamics.com, where dantecdynamics.com is the<br />

domain name.<br />
