Calibration (PDA only) The calibration is carried out for PDA measurements only. The electronics generates a phase offset that requires to be compensated. This is done by the mean of a calibration. A phase calibration unit supplies a calibration signal that is used to determine hardware generated phase-shift offsets. The calibration signal is provided by an LED (shutter closed in the receiver) and signals are measured directly by the PM’s. In Automatic mode (default mode), a calibration is carried out when one of the following parameters of group 1 (LDA1, PDA2 and PDA3 channels in FiberPDA mode or 1 LDA1, PDA2 and LDA4 PDA3 in DualPDA mode) is modified: • Velocity span • Center velocity • Gain • Sensitivity • Every 15 minutes The phase calibration can be made automatically whenever needed, always before acquiring or never. Go in the processor properties, select general and click on calibration mode (see chapter 5.3). Note Disabling the calibration might affect the phase measurement and might give some incorrect results. BSA Figure 4-38: processor properties and calibration mode. Now select Processor, and click the Auto button. This starts the Autoconfiguration wizard, which guides you through the procedure for establishing a connection between the BSA and the PC.
