7.7.10 Latex sphere in water
Characteristics:
Latex sphere: n = 1.59.
Water: n = 1.334.
nrel = 1.1919.
ϕb0
Figure 7-71: Latex sphere in water.
= 80.0°.
ϕb2 = 120.0°.
ϕc1 = 65.93°.
Recommended acceptance angles of the receiving optics:
1. Refraction: 30°, either polarization.
2. Reflection: ϕc1 to ϕr2–5°, from 66° to 107°.
Use side scatter and perpendicular polarization.
ϕc2 = 131.8°.
ϕr2 = 111.7°.
ϕr3 = 175.0°.
3. 2nd order refraction: can be used at ϕr2+5° to ϕr2+10°, from 117° to
122°, with either polarization.
Note The angle of the Brewster effect in the reflected light, ϕ , is beyond the
b0
range of refracted light.
