10. ptical LDA System properties include the wavelength and other optical parameters. The optical parameters that you defined in the Dantec Device Configuration will appear in the list. If necessary, you can modify them. The default value of Expander ratio is 1 corresponding to no beam expander. The nominal Beam diameter, Expander ratio and Beam spacing are specified in the user’s guide for the optics. The Frequency shift is 40000000 Hz for Dantec Dynamics FiberFlow and FlowLite optical systems, and 80000000 Hz for FlowExplorer optical systems. Note The software computes the effective beam spacing at the front lens as Beam Spacing multiplied by Expander Ratio Alternatively, the beam spacing at the exit of the beam expander can be used. In that case, set the Expander Ratio to 1, and the Beam Spacing to the one at the exit of the beam expander. In the Beam diameter field, enter the beam diameter at the front lens, i.e. the beam diameter before beam expander(s) multiplied with the total beam expansion. To monitor the Doppler signals, right click on Processor, Group 1 or LDA 1 in the BSA Application window, and select System Monitor from the list. An “always on top” window appears. An oscilloscope-like display will appear in this window. This shows a number of samples of the filtered and digitised Doppler bursts. In addition to the oscilloscope display it includes a Group pane and a Channel pane showing the anode current of the photo-multiplier(s) and synchronisation pulses if available. The panes can be collapsed individually by clicking on the button in their upper right corner. 4-50 BSA Flow Software: The user interface

The record interval should match the length of the longest bursts, as in the example above. In auto-adaptive mode, the two sets of vertical line correspond to the minimum and maximum record length (see chapter 5 System Monitor). Note The record length is not displayed with BSA F30 and BSA P30 processors. Checking for coincidence in 2D and 3D systems and selecting record interval are described in Chapter 5: System Monitor. Recognising a good Doppler burst requires some experience. The validation rates a good indicator. You can see the validation rate in the Acquisition pane of the System Monitor window. 11.
