Overlaid Graphs: used to show the bursts from all channels overlaid. This can be used to assess coincidence of the detected bursts and hence the optical alignment: if the bursts overlap perfectly, the overlap of the measurement volumes is perfect. See chapter 4 for more details on how to check for coincidence. The System monitor display evidently requires some resources of the PC, which is not critical in low to medium data rate cases (data rate up to some kHz). Note In applications with high data rates, it is recommended to switch the System monitor off to free as many system resources in the PC as possible. To get an idea about the load on the PC, you can activate the Windows Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DELETE – select Task manager) and compare the CPU load with and without the System monitor. Checking coincidence in 2D and 3D systems Note Please observe the rules for channel settings explained in section 0 The System Monitor is useful for checking whether bursts arrive simultaneously on the velocity channels. By using the same trigger channel, the scope traces will have the same time base. Choose the trigger channel in the properties of the Coincidence group: By overlaying the traces, a direct visual impression of coincidence is possible.
