The 2D Plot is a point-based plot, presenting results from measurements<br />

<strong>and</strong>/or calculations performed in a single point. If measurements are made in<br />

a traverse mesh, you can step through the different measuring positions, but<br />

the results must be viewed one at a time unless you create multiple 2D Plots,<br />

each showing data from a different measuring point.<br />

This may seem a limitation, but it also makes the 2D Plot one of the most<br />

versatile plot types, since you can freely determine which data to show on<br />

both the horizontal <strong>and</strong> the vertical axis of the plot. In the other plot types<br />

(Profile <strong>and</strong> Vector Plot) one or even both of the axes must correspond to a<br />

traverse axis X, Y or Z. With the 2D Plot the only limitation is that data on<br />

the horizontal axis must be somehow related to the data on the vertical axis:<br />

For example it is not possible to show velocity samples from one LDAchannel<br />

as a function of arrival times from another LDA-channel.<br />

(Obviously this makes no sense anyway so this is not really a limitation).<br />

Configuring the 2D Plot<br />

Figure 6-13 shows an example of a 2D Plot, where velocity samples from a<br />

periodic flow are shown as a function of their arrival time.<br />

All other figures shown in section 6.1.3 of this text, refer to this example.<br />

The configuration of a 2D Plot is used to determine which data to plot. To<br />

configure a 2D Plot, you simply select the plot, <strong>and</strong> then right-click inside<br />

the plot window. This will bring up a configuration dialog similar to<br />

Figure 6-14 showing the data available for plotting.<br />

Note If data is not yet available (i.e. measurements have not yet been performed),<br />

you will get an error message trying to configure the plot unless system<br />

setup has progressed so far that the type of data can be predicted.<br />
