But, again, I had no idea where to start.<br />

Seeking oUt SpeakerS<br />

The route I took this time was straight to the bookstore – where I went<br />

through the “Management” section, taking down the names of popular<br />

authors who seemed likely candidates on my Blackberry. Over the next<br />

few days, I did some online research on the names I had come up with<br />

and emailed a couple of them. One wrote back and said no, he didn’t<br />

want to go to China. But someone else wrote back and said that he was<br />

interested in going to China.<br />

That person’s name is on the cover of this book – Brian Tracy.<br />

To be entirely accurate, Brian did not write back personally that first<br />

time – instead, it was the president of Brian Tracy International, Ib<br />

Moller, who told me they had an agent for China already, but they could<br />

use someone to book Brian in the rest of Asia, if I wanted to do that. I<br />

agreed, even though my strongest connections were in China, and they<br />

sent me many of Brian’s books and CDs to review.<br />

When I called to ask what to do if I had a good lead for Brian in China,<br />

Ib informed me that they were going to give me all of Asia, including<br />

my home country, because they really wanted to work with me. They<br />

realized that my cultural knowledge, combined with my business experience,<br />

made me someone who could really do the job for them.<br />

So I had my second client – and I was doing very well with my first.<br />

At a New Year’s Eve event, I booked Will Bowen at a Chinese event<br />

where he spoke to 3,800 people. That really opened the door, and many<br />

deals suddenly became available to me and my speakers.<br />

This year, I’m looking at phenomenal and explosive growth for my<br />

new speakers’ agency. I want to have a stable of three to four American<br />

speakers who can bring their own cultural vision and products<br />

and share them with China. I’m especially anxious to bring Brian<br />

over to China. He already has over 30 books translated there, but, to<br />

really create a high-profile presence, coming to speak in person will<br />

make a big difference.<br />
