Show me a passionate businessperson and I will show you a successful
business. Passion is the key to creating extraordinary
businesses. What is passion? The dictionary definition is: a
strong and barely controllable emotion • an intense desire or enthusiasm
for something.
Many “experts” convey that to follow your passion requires labor. I
disagree; following one’s passion precludes you from being a laborer,
as passion is not a conscious thought or action, it is an intangible
emotion that is an unconscious reaction. It is what wakes you up early
in the morning in excited anticipation of another day. Passion fuels
your thoughts and actions. This is why it is critical to find your passion
in business and then begin your entrepreneurial quest. Passion
is a conviction that is not governable; you can’t just pick something
and arbitrarily decide “I am going to be passionate about this,” any
more than you could say ‘I love you’ to someone, and truly mean it
from looking at their resume. It does not work that way, whether in
business or in your personal life.
