choice, so I had to accept it and work at that place.
The difference between my colleagues and me was this: I always do
more than his expectation and agree to take on more tasks. After 6
months, the owner realizes that if he doesn’t pay me more, he has to
hire two more guys just to do my current job. So by increasing my
salary 30% or 40% more, this is still better than hiring two persons to
replace me – which means an increase of100%. And then there is nothing
sure about the commitment or performance level of the new person.
That’s the situation with the owner who’s not good. How about a good
company? Sure, they don’t want to lose their good performers, and
that’s how I would just get promotion after promotion. And that is
where I can easily jump from an unpopular company to a reputable
company.
