Being a business owner and working toward ambitious professional<br />

goals adds a lot of responsibility to your life. It is easy to put off exercise<br />

and eating healthy meals when you are busy managing projects<br />

and people. But at the end of the day, can you be your best if you are<br />

not taking care of yourself and maintaining healthy habits?<br />

We don’t think so. In fact, we believe that taking the time to be healthy<br />

makes you more productive and focused.<br />

After retiring from the insurance business, we started living part time<br />

in both Seattle and Palm Springs. Alan started working out more than<br />

he ever had. He was playing golf, doing Pilates five times a week, and<br />

walking many miles a day. But, strangely, he was not losing weight. At<br />

the suggestion of a well-known cardiologist, Alan changed his diet and<br />

started staying away from sugar. He lost 30 pounds in 90 days and got<br />

his blood pressure issue under control without medication for the first<br />

time in 15 years.<br />

Bonnie had a similar experience with lifestyle changes. In 2008, she<br />

developed areas of skin cancer and had 22 operations over the next<br />

eleven months. In early 2010, Bonnie followed the advice of Alan’s<br />

cardiologist and removed sugar from her diet. It worked! The cardiologist<br />

suggested that cancer cannot live without sugar, and the Seattle<br />

doctors were amazed.<br />

After having these experiences, we now believe that many of the causes<br />

of weight and health issues facing Americans are related to sugar. We<br />

believe that everyone needs to understand some basics about eating, fitness,<br />

and health to enjoy the good life! And we have created a business<br />

around it. Our book titled The Cashman Lifestyle explains how to live a<br />

healthy and wealthy life, and our website keeps you up to date on ways<br />

to incorporate “the good life” and to become as successful and healthy<br />

as you can be.<br />
