THE INNATE POTENCy OF THE CRy FOR HElP
When faced with a dilemma, don’t just ask anyone. Ask for help from
someone in a position to help. If you had to pull up to a curb due to a
flat tire, would you rather ask for help from someone who pulled up at
that same curb with two flat tires or from a mechanic with all the right
tools? Ask help from someone who has succeeded at what you are attempting
to achieve, and it does not have to be as dramatic as my story.
There are many other ways in which you can ask for help and that includes
simply reading books or attending courses.
3. aSk again and again
There is nothing wrong with not knowing, what is not right is staying
ignorant after discovering you do not know. In my earlier years, my
father continually told me to never be afraid of asking questions no
matter how silly they sounded to others. He said the worst thing that
could happen after I asked was that people would laugh, but even their
laughter would contribute to the learning process because the ridicule
also meant I would never forget the answer.
you get after asking will come with its demands. It may be demands
on your time, demands on your ability to change, demands to
give as good as you get or demands to undertake projects you never
would have thought of doing. In my case, I had to meet all these demands
and it turned my business around. Life is not a stroll in the park,
so do not expect help to come cheap and fit into your old way of doing
things. Get ready to be flexible, get ready to change, get ready to work
at it, get ready to do what it takes to make the most of the help you have
been given.
Finding out what makes someone tick might go a long way in determining
how much you get out of the person. People are appreciable assets
and the more you pay attention to them, the more you are likely to
receive from them. The type of letter I wrote would definitely not work
