years working with countless people is that though our facial expressions
can be genuine, there are some non-genuine looks that we all
have. It is these looks that are blocking our true ability to own the room.
The most common generic facial expressions all deal with our smile.
Either we plaster a fake smile on, or we are frowning most of the time.
Many people don’t realize that they aren’t smiling or they are unaware
that their smile never changes. Authentic facial expressions change,
move, and express.
The easiest way to know what your face is saying is to record yourself
or watch yourself make sale calls in the mirror. By being aware of your
look, you know first-hand what your clients’ experience. And by recording
etc. Slight variations in how your customers perceive you and your
company are the beginning cracks of doubt and confusion for your customer,
and their relationship with your company.
Besides the overall tone of your company’s message, the tone of your
voice is crucial to be conscious of, especially in any situation where
you are speaking. Most women speak softer in public situations, yet
speak in a higher pitch when they are nervous. Guys can go soft as well,
but they also tend to be louder when nervous.
It doesn’t really matter how loud or soft you speak, what matters is the
conviction behind your voice. Does your passion show through? Are
you excited about the information you are sharing? Conviction comes
