THE lEAdERSHIP mATRIx
No, this is a real process that becomes ingrained into the business. So
I married the six points above to the Strategic Planning Process and
came up with a roadmap to implementing and actually executing those
great ideas we have to make our business better.
So let’s break down the matrix below:
Right People Right Things Done Right
Clarity Vision/Goals Actions Core Culture
Focus Alignment Accountability Process
Execution Rhythm/Huddles Dashboards Training
Right People Right Things Done Right
Clarity Vision/Goals Actions Core Culture
1. clarity – this is the first and most vital step in changing a company
for the better. The leader must have a Vision and Goals that are
documented, tracked, measured and communicated to the People
in the company. Every company must have something to rally around
and measure itself against – to achieve a high level of success.
“Vision without action is a dream, Action without Vision is Chaos”
~ Japanese Proverb
I never set any goals for myself when I worked for corporations. I told
myself I did okay without them, why bother? When I left that world
and started working with business owners, I had to ask myself if setting
goals was so important for them, then why did I succeed without goals.
After a lot of contemplation it occurred to me. The CEO set my goals.
It came down the ladder and if I met and exceeded their goals I was
rewarded with more responsibility, more money, etc.
Guess what? No one is coming to set the goals for you, the business
owner. You must do it yourself. Your employees don’t know where you
want to go, or what they are supposed to do, so they need those goals
