If you were accused of being a risk-taker, would you be convicted?
For the sake of success, being overly cautious can be the culprit of
missed opportunity, while it locks us in a cell of complacent mentality.
On the contrary, ‘gut-feel’ and natural instinct are often the most valuable
traits in the mindset of an achiever.
It’s true that a blind man can have better vision than a man with sight.
The question “What if…?” can only be answered by taking chances
when the outcome is unclear at the time of the commitment. The past
tense of ‘possibility’ is would have, should have and could have…
words that are best deleted from our vocabulary. Risk is the potential to
return greater reward.
When others question our actions while we are engaged in the process
of moving forward, it’s a good indication that we are on the right track.
Running into the wind or swimming against the tide enhances a workout
and returns better results, sooner. Don’t be concerned when you
see significantly more people heading in the opposite direction. Rather,
consider it advantageous that the lane to success is less congested than
the mainstream – as it’s shared only by other achievers.
It’s by choice that I live on the edge… and feel that those that don’t are
taking up too much space!
In summary, if the thought “Lucky 7” has run through your mind as you
shuffled through these pages…think again! You won’t need luck if you
are willing to modify some behaviors and keep an optimistic attitude.
No lottery ticket or slot machine can offer a better pay-off than your
bet being on you.
So, here’s the deal, ...‘ante up’ to writing down your Dreams List and
anticipate the need to discard those people who try to steal those desires
from you. ‘Up’ your bet by recognizing that challenges are just jokers
in the deck of success, and draw on the fact that mentorship opportunities
are like being dealt an ace. Hold yourself accountable to your own
hand by initiating results, and replace your poker face with exuberant
energy, as you confidently take each hit while you engage in risks.
