Do not give up, but do not turn yourself into a pest either. Help comes
mostly to those who seek it with dignified humility. I have asked for
help from many other people and in many other ways and I have not
always gotten a ‘yes’. To enjoy business success, you have to be able to
pick up the pieces and try again. Mary Anne Radmacher’s quote captures
this succinctly, ‘Courage does not always roar, sometimes courage
is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying…I will try again.’
8. Help otHerS too
Do not forget that someone took the time to answer your cry for help.
Today, I take the time to teach others how to succeed because I do not
forget that someone took the time to teach me. Take out time to answer
somebody else’s cry for help.
Asking for help takes a certain amount of courage, everyone can but
not everyone will, and that is what separates the successful from the
failures in business and in life. I have often heard that when the student
is ready the teacher will appear, but most times in life when the student
is ready, the student has to go in search of the teacher. Do not sit idly by
waiting for help to locate you, go after it and never underestimate the
innate potency of the cry for help.
None of us has gotten where we are solely by pulling ourselves up by
our own bootstraps. We got here because somebody bent down and
helped us.
