PUSHING TO THE FRONT
terrifies or disgusts me, I know I probably have some work to do around
that, and I try to explore that further. But that’s a different chapter!
Through the workshops, my husband and I became friends with the cofounder
of The Painting Experience, Stewart Cubley. Stewart is a fantastic
example of someone pursuing his passion and using his gifts to
make the world a better place. Stewart has created a life he loves, helping
others to discover and follow their own unique paths. He nurtures participants
as they face fears and transformation, and he encourages them as
they experience ecstasy and bliss. Stewart lives an amazing life, traveling
with their work. The survey showed the most dissatisfaction in 20 years.
Most people believe they have a higher calling, which might contribute
to their restlessness with their current work. A 2007 Gallup survey
asked adults in 84 countries, “Do you feel your life has an important
purpose or meaning?” More than 80 percent replied, “yes.” Among
those who affiliate themselves with a religion, roughly 90% answered
“yes.” This is because faith and purpose are strongly connected. People
who believe in a higher power usually believe they are divinely chosen
for a certain mission.
Certainly, the challenging economy fuels mass unhappiness. There are
lots of stressed-out people in our society, and negativity can be contagious.
The pace of our world has accelerated too, heaping added stress
upon our shoulders. The Earth is spinning more quickly, and society is
