Building and Planning in an
international Context
10 years German-French Double Master’s Programme
Since 2011, the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture
de Strasbourg (ENSAS) and the KIT-Department of
Architecture of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
(KIT) offer a Double Masters Program: Architecture and
urban planning in international context. It has evolved
since then taking advantage of the geographical proximity,
and has managed to shape quite a defined profile of professionals
with transnational and multicultural competences.
In June 2022, a series of events celebrated one decade of
this joint academic program. A series of lectures, as well as
an exhibition and a publication with the Masters Thesis of
the students helped to throw a look back to the achievements,
and also to imagine novel possible futures. Professor Henri
Bava founded the program and accompanied it to this year,
when Professor Simon Hartmann takes over. The challenges
of the near future are present in two parallel set of actions:
those aiming to firmly consolidate the existing bonds, and
also those to extend the network of exchanges to an even
greater number of students and faculties.
