We will certainly also all have fond memories of
winning the Solar Decathlon Europe in Wuppertal with
the RoofKIT project. 18 international university teams
from ten different countries competed in the solar decathlon,
from which our department emerged as the overall winner
at the first event in Germany in June 2022. Elena Boerman
introduces the project in a feature.
Dr. Jens Hauser’s feature on the field trip seminar
De/Growth explores how current critiques of neoliberal
economic models and notions of unlimited growth and resources
find expression in contemporary media and performance
art.
Since 2011, the École nationale supérieure d’architecture
de Strasbourg (ENSAS) and the KIT Department
of Architecture at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
have offered a joint Franco-German double master’s
program in architecture. In his contribution, Arturo
Romero Carnicero, deputy program officer of the double
master, outlines the history of the double master, describes
its goals, and gives an outlook on the further development
of the program.
Fanny Kranz, Academic Assistant at the Chair of
Fine Arts, presents in her feature the exhibition project
M* 1:1 — hidden views and female perspectives in
architecture, which presented successful female architects
of the last hundred years in the Architekturschaufenster
Karls ruhe and met with a great response.
Once again, I would like to thank the students, the
teams of the dean’s office, the study workshops, the library,
and all employees and colleagues of the administration as
well as the scientific research and teaching. Without your
commitment, a department cannot and will not be able to
develop further and open up new areas. This development
is sometimes difficult, especially because of new crises such
as the Ukraine war and the related scientific as well as
economic restrictions that we also have to cope with in the
scientific enterprise.
