Network
Notes:
1. The access technology selected parameters, , should only be used in terminals
capable to register to more than one access technology. Selection of does not
limit the capability to cell re selections, even though access technology is selected, the
phone may still re-select a cell in other access technology.
2. If MT is unregistered, parameter of each operator in the available networks list
(COPS test command) is 0 (unknown).
3. In order to get current operator’s name (COPS read command) in the long or short
format, following algorithm is executed:
- First of all MT tries to retrieve current operator's name from the network’s system
information message arrives while registration.
- If current operator’s name is absent in the network’s system information message,
MT tries to retrieve current operator’s name from SIM/USIM.
- If current operator’s name is not supported by SIM/USIM, MT retrieves current
operator’s name from the hard-coded all-operators list, according to current PLMN.
On one hand, COPS set command given with format 0-1(short/long operator’s names)
accepts only operator’s names present in hard-coded all-operators list. On the other
hand, operator’s name in the long format, retrieved from network’s message or
SIM/USIM, could be distinguished from operator’s name in the long format, retrieved
from the hard-coded all-operators list. That is why, it is recommended to give COPS
set command with format 2(numeric operator name). If COPS set command is given
with format 0, the long operator’s name must be present in the hard-coded
all-operators list (see AT+COPN – all operators names command).
4. +COPS EONS ()
Extended Operator Name String (EONS) enabling a Subscriber Identification Module
(SIM card) issuer, for example, a network operator, to control the displayed operator
name () using a set of rules and associated name strings stored on the SIM
card. The rules are known as the Operator PLMN List (OPL) and the associated name
string is known as the PLMN Network Name (PNN) list. The EONS feature makes it
possible for the H24 module to display a particular name other than that of the actual
network where the mobile station operating. Some networks operators use the EONS
feature to provide "virtual" nationwide coverage by programming the SIM to make
the mobile station display the operator's name in all or in particular portions of third
party networks. Under these circumstances, the mobile station is said to be in a
"virtual" home network.
Upon invoking +COPS READ/TEST AT Commands, as far as parameter, we
first verified for PNN within OPL in SIM Card, if one does not exist,
parameter refers to hard coded PLMN Network Name.
