15. SSL_UNKNOWN_CA A valid certificate chain or partial chain was<br />

received, but the certificate was not accepted<br />

because the CA certificate could not be located<br />

or couldn't be matched with a known, trusted<br />

CA.<br />

16. SSL_ACCESS_DENIED A valid certificate was received, but when access<br />

control was applied, the sender decided not to<br />

proceed with negotiation. This message is fatal.<br />

17. SSL_CERTIFIC<strong>AT</strong>E_BAD_PEM The delimiters of Base64 encoded certificate are<br />

invalid.<br />

18. SSL_CERTIFIC<strong>AT</strong>E_NO_SN This certificate has no serial number.<br />

19. SSL_DOMAIN_NAME_MISM<strong>AT</strong>CH The server's common name mismatches its<br />

domain name.<br />

20. SSL_CERTIFIC<strong>AT</strong>E_UNKNOWN Some other (unspecified) issue arose in<br />

processing the certificate, rendering it<br />

unacceptable.<br />

21. SSL_DECRYPT_ERROR A handshake cryptographic operation failed,<br />

including being unable to correctly verify a<br />

signature, decrypt a key exchange, or validate a<br />

finished message.<br />

22. SSL_RECORD_OVERFLOW A Cipher text record was received which had a<br />

length more than 2^14+2048 bytes. This<br />

message is always fatal.<br />

23. SSL_DECODE_ERROR A message could not be decoded because some<br />

field was out of the specified range or the length<br />

of the message was incorrect. This message is<br />

always fatal.<br />

24. SSL_UNSUPPORTED_EXTENSION This alert is sent by clients that receive an<br />

extended server hello containing an extension<br />

that they did not put in the corresponding client<br />

hello. This message is always fatal.<br />
