Chapter 4: Using the Commands
TCP/IP: MIP Commands Using Cases
PDP Context (MIP call) Activation/Deactivation
PDP context activation is based on specific network service provider parameters, such as APN
(Access Point Name), user name and password. When PDP context activation completes
successfully, a network connection is established and the user receives a valid IP from its network
service provider. User should configure specific PDP context (in particular APN of network
service provider) before activation, using +CGDCONT command (refer to +CGDCONT
command description) as shown in the example below.
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet","0.0.0.0",0,0
OK
The operation configured CID #1 by assigning "internet" as the APN name. Refer to your
network service provider for more details about appropriate APN names.
The CID number is +MIPCALL's third mandatory parameter. When +MIPCALL command is
used, the CID parameter should be configured with a valid APN name for a successful PDP
activation.
When PDP context is configured, the user will be able to activate the context by +MIPCALL 'set'
command, as shown below:
AT+MIPCALL=1,1,1
OK
In this example, CallID parameter = 1 and Operation parameter = 1 (i.e. PDP context activation).
The valid values for CallID are 1 or 2. An invalid CallID value will result with "numeric
parameters out of bounds" error.
+MIPCALL command initiates a PDP activation process. The module reports about a PDP
activation process with a +MIPCALL unsolicited response, as shown below:
+MIPCALL: 1,1,"172.16.19.201"
User may interrupt a PDP activation process by issuing "+MIPCALL=,0" (where
Operation parameter = 0 - means PDP context deactivation) in any stage of the process. When the
user interrupts a PDP activation before +MIPCALL: ,,
unsolicited response is received, the module generates "+MIPCALL: ,0" unsolicited
response as shown below:
AT+MIPCALL=1,1,1
OK
AT+MIPCALL=1,0
OK
+MIPCALL: 1,0
User is able to activate up to 2 PDP contexts (up to 2 MIP calls) simultaneously. Actual feature
implementation prohibits a PDP activation based on APN, already used for another active PDP.
The following example shows two PDP contexts, activated on different APNs.
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet","0.0.0.0",0,0
OK
AT+CGDCONT=5,"IP","wap","0.0.0.0",0,0
OK
AT+MIPCALL=1,1,1
OK
+MIPCALL: 1,1,"172.16.194.255"
AT+MIPCALL=2,1,5
