categories, ma<strong>in</strong>ly due to fertilisers and diesel (agricultural processes <strong>in</strong> irrigated cultivation). Normalised<br />

results had similar magnitude for all categories, except for FWE and OD.<br />

A huge variation <strong>in</strong> GHG <strong>in</strong>tensity for sunflower oil <strong>in</strong> Portugal was calculated (0.3-20.9 kg CO2eq/kgoil,<br />

mass allocation), demonstrat<strong>in</strong>g that agricultural practices and LUC scenarios have an important <strong>in</strong>fluence on<br />

GHG <strong>in</strong>tensity. To assure low GHG <strong>in</strong>tensity, sunflower should preferably be cultivated <strong>in</strong> severely degraded<br />

grassland. Cultivation on previous perennial crop land should not be used.<br />
