8. Expected results<br />

Supported by key m<strong>et</strong>hodological tools such as Life Cycle Analysis and Multi-criteria Analysis applied to<br />

alternative scenarios for cereal resources uses fed with local data, the ALT-4-CER project will provide clues<br />

to answer key questions raised today <strong>in</strong> human Soci<strong>et</strong>ies, such as “What type of agriculture do we want for<br />

tomorrow? Is it <strong>et</strong>hically, environmentally and economically susta<strong>in</strong>able to dedicate cereals resources to<br />

other uses than human food?”<br />

In particular, the project will (i) support Walloon cereal cha<strong>in</strong>s by optimiz<strong>in</strong>g their production and use<br />

choices, (ii) help decision-makers by provid<strong>in</strong>g them with scientific support <strong>in</strong> the draw<strong>in</strong>g of new environmental,<br />

agricultural and energy policies, and (iii) assist the consumer <strong>in</strong> his choices to contribute to susta<strong>in</strong>able<br />

development.<br />
