5. CONCLUSIONS
This study aimed at the pigment identification of the wall paintings of “Four Seasons” of the great painter of
19 th century N. Gyzis situated in the Building N. Gyzis, in Palataki Tower, Haidari, Athens. Summarizing the
results, painter N. Gyzis in the wall painting of the Four Seasons, he used, Vermilion and Red Lead for the
orange and red colors, Zinc for white, Indigo for blue and for Green a mixture of Indigo with Goethite. So, it
seems that N. Gyzis used a mixture of pigments in most cases, for each color. Besides, the artist stands out for
the uniqueness of his painting art, especially regarding pigments (Perraki et al, 2013).
