OP-III-30– Au, above 650° and for Ni catalysts, above 750°C the partial oxidation to syngas predominates.Above 800°C, methane conversion degree close to 100% is observed. Gold addition considerablyincreases the activity of bimetallic catalyst 8% Ni - 2% Au/Al 2 O 3 in POM reaction. Conclusions• Formation of Ni - Au alloy during high temperature POM reaction was proved.• Reduction of Ni - Au catalyst is prerequisite condition to catalyze POM reaction.• Gold addition to nickel/alumina improves catalyst stability and activity in POM reaction.• Gold addition does not influence considerably TPR profile for nickel catalyst.1 - Au-Ni/Al 2O 3reduced 500C2 - Au-Ni/Al 2O 3calcinated 400C3 - Au-Ni/Al 2O 3aftr reaction POMO1sCl-KMMNa1sO-KLLNi2pC-KVVAl2pAu4fAl2sCl2pC1sNi-LMM123250 750Binding energy, eVFigure 1 TPR profiles for Ni and Ni-Au/Al 2 O 3catalystsFigure 3 XPS survey spectra for Ni-Au/Al 2 O 3catalystsFigure 4 Catalytic activity tests for 10%Ni/Al 2 O 3and 2%Au-8%Ni/Al 2 O catalystsFigure 2 XRD patterns for Ni-Au systemsAcknowledgements: The financial support of this work by the Polish Scientific ResearchCouncil supports (Grant No. 1357/T09/2005/29) is gratefully acknowledged.388
