4 LEAVE4.10 ROSTERED DAYS OFF4.10.1 GENERALFull time <strong>general</strong> assistants <strong>and</strong> farm assistants work an eight hour day <strong>and</strong> accrue 0.4 <strong>of</strong> anhour per day worked towards one rostered day <strong>of</strong>f in a twenty working day cycle.4.10.2 ARRANGEMENT OF ROSTERED DAYS OFFThe rostered day <strong>of</strong>f should be determined by the staff member <strong>and</strong> the school principal. It maybe taken on a rostered basis or accumulate <strong>and</strong> be taken during the next school vacation or asotherwise agreed upon. General assistants <strong>and</strong> principals should monitor the accrual <strong>of</strong>rostered days <strong>of</strong>f to ensure that they are taken appropriately. For farm assistants refer toSection 4.10.4.Once set the rostered day <strong>of</strong>f may not be changed in a current cycle unless there are genuineunforeseen circumstance prevailing.4.10.3 EFFECT OF OTHER LEAVECredit towards rostered days <strong>of</strong>f continues to accumulate while a staff member is on recreation,military, family <strong>and</strong> community service, personal/carer's, study, special <strong>and</strong> sick leave. Where astaff member's rostered day <strong>of</strong>f falls during a period <strong>of</strong> sick leave, the staff member's sick leavewill not be debited for that day.Where a staff member is absent on extended leave <strong>and</strong>/or workers compensation during acycle <strong>and</strong> returns prior to, or on, the rostered day <strong>of</strong>f, time absent during that cycle shall beregarded as accruing time towards the next rostered day <strong>of</strong>f as per Section 4.10.1. A staffmember who is on extended leave <strong>and</strong>/or workers' compensation for a full cycle is not entitledto a rostered day <strong>of</strong>f for that cycle.4.10.4 FARM ASSISTANTSFull time farm assistants take their rostered day <strong>of</strong>f on a Monday or a Friday. Rostered days <strong>of</strong>fmay be accrued up to a limit <strong>of</strong> six.Farm assistants who have not worked a complete cycle receive pro rata entitlements.4.10.5 RETIREMENT/RESIGNATIONAs a <strong>general</strong> rule, all accrued rostered days <strong>of</strong>f should be exhausted prior to a staff member’slast day <strong>of</strong> duty.H<strong>and</strong>book for non teaching staff in schools 2007 Page 4 - 48
