RATES OF PAY AND ALLOWANCES7.1 PAYMENT OF WAGES7.1.1 GENERALThe following section contains policy <strong>and</strong> procedures on the payment <strong>of</strong> wages <strong>and</strong> allowances.Intranet links are provided in order to access the most up to date salary <strong>and</strong> allowance pay rates.Staff without access to a computer can contact the Industrial Relations Directorate on(02) 9561 8780 to access the appropriate information.Payment <strong>of</strong> wages is made fortnightly by direct deposit into an account held with a financialinstitution.At the time <strong>of</strong> initial appointment as permanent or long term temporary, non teaching staff inschools are sent the necessary form in order to provide the <strong>Department</strong> with financial accountdetails. The completed form should be returned to Employee Services Bathurst.Staff wishing to seek alterations in arrangements for the payment <strong>of</strong> their wages should give fourweeks notice in writing to Employee Services Bathurst with financial account details.Contact: employee.services.bathurst@det.nsw.edu.au 1300 338 003Generally speaking, all manual payments, such as advance payments for long service leave ormaternity leave <strong>and</strong> benefits payable on separation from service are paid by direct deposit toaccounts. Unless specifically requested, such payments are not sent through Australia Post to astaff member's address.7.1.1.1 Notification <strong>of</strong> Entry on Dutya) Staff who enter on duty on their first appointment, transfer or promotion areissued with an appointment notice which includes an entry on duty form. Thecompleted form should be h<strong>and</strong>ed to the principal on the first day <strong>of</strong> service forimmediate dispatch to Employee Services Bathurst.b) When a non teaching staff member has been suspended from the payroll <strong>and</strong> isabsent on unpaid leave for more than 60 days, on the day the staff memberresumes duty (either at the same or a new school) the principal must notifyEmployee Services Bathurst, otherwise restoration to the payroll will not occur.7.1.1.2 Pay Advice Slipsa) Each fortnight, pay advice slips showing particulars <strong>of</strong> salary, taxation,superannuation <strong>and</strong> miscellaneous deductions are forwarded to the schoolprincipal who is responsible for arranging distribution <strong>of</strong> pay advice slips to staff.b) Pay advice slips are not issued during school vacations but are dispatched toschools in time for distribution during the first week <strong>of</strong> term.c) Where the person named upon the salary advice slip has left the <strong>employment</strong> <strong>of</strong>the <strong>Department</strong> or is absent on a period <strong>of</strong> extended leave, pay advice slips willbe mailed out to the employee by the school.7.1.1.3 Income Tax <strong>and</strong> Employment Declarationa) Income tax is deducted from all salaries in accordance with the income taxH<strong>and</strong>book for non teaching staff in schools 2006 V#3 31 January 2007 Page 7 - 1
