RATES OF PAY AND ALLOWANCESallowance at the non dependant rate shall not be paid the allowance whilst onmilitary leave.b) Remote Areas - Travelling on Recreation LeaveDefinitionFor the purposes of this section "remote areas" means:• Booligal, lvanhoe, Carowa Tank, Mossgiel, Maude, Wanaaring, Oxley andYantabulla; and• any other area of the State that is situated to the west of the 144th meridian oflongitude.Use of Private VehicleStaff members who travel by their own vehicles receive the casual rate inaccordance with Clause 38 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditionsof Employment) Reviewed Award 2006 and Schedule B of Industrial RelationsCircular IRC 06/21 and as updated from time to time by the PremiersDepartment.Other Transport / Rail TravelGeneralWhere staff members choose to travel by transport, other than by private vehicle,they are to be reimbursed the cost of reasonable expenses in accordance withClause 42 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment)Reviewed Award 2006 and Schedule A of Industrial Relations Circular IRC06/21 and as updated from time to time by the Premiers Department.These expenses may include the cost of overnight accommodation for the staffmember and their dependants but is not to include payments for taxi fares ormeals.Accommodation CostsWhere a staff member is obliged to obtain overnight accommodation to and fromthe place where the staff member is to spend recreation leave an additionalallowance is payable at the rate of $2.50 for the staff member, spouse and eachdependant child provided that:• where the staff member is travelling by their own vehicle, with Departmentalapproval, the allowance is payable for only two nights on each of the forwardand return journeys;• where the staff member is travelling by other means than their own vehiclethe allowance is payable for only one night on each of the forward and returnjourneys; and• no payment is to be made in respect of accommodation costs unless the staffmember travels at least 480 kilometres by the nearest practicable route fromHandbook for non teaching staff in schools 2006 V#3 31 January 2007 Page 7 - 12
