6 OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY Occupational Health and Safety Information6.7 SUPPORTING WORKPLACE SAFETYIn summary, staff are required to actively support workplace safety by:• co-operating in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment• following workplace safety procedures• being familiar with the relevant occupational health, safety and welfare policies,procedures, guidelines and programs• taking reasonable physical and psychological care of yourself and others at theworkplace• understanding and respecting the roles and responsibilities of others• being aware of the impact of your actions on the health and safety of others• identifying workplace hazards, assessing the risks and taking action to eliminate orcontrol the risks• wearing personal protective equipment when required• reporting incidents and workplace hazards• ensuring that work spaces and storage areas are orderly and risks to health and safetyare eliminated• participating in OHS consultation and training• following safety signs• using equipment safely• supporting and assisting injured colleagues to achieve a safe and timely return to work.• advising your principal or supervisor if you are aware of any permanent or longstanding condition which would require currently, intermittently or in the reasonablyforeseeable future, an adjustment to your workplace.6.8 OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATIONa) The Department has an OHS website on the DET Intranet. The website can be accessedby clicking on the Occupational Health and Safety link under the A-Z of Directorates, orby going to the following address:https://detwww.det.nsw.edu.au/adminandmanage/ohands/index.htmb) The website includes sections on specific OHS hazards, induction training, riskmanagement and consultation.
