RATES OF PAY AND ALLOWANCESGeneral Assistants• On Call (St<strong>and</strong>by) allowance• Recall to Duty allowanceNon teaching staff in Schools• Community Language Allowance Scheme• Motor Vehicle allowance• Remote areas allowanceThe rates for most <strong>of</strong> the allowances can be found in Industrial Relations Circular IRC 06/20.This circular can be accessed on the <strong>Department</strong>’s intranet site athttps://detwww.det.nsw.edu.au/lists/directoratesaz/ires/indrel/circulars/index.htmAlternatively, staff without access to a computer can contact the Industrial Relations Directorate on(02) 9561 8780.7.2.1 SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE AND SUPPORT STAFF - ALLOWANCESTo locate these allowances within IRC 06/20 go to the DET salaries <strong>and</strong> allowances link, then to therate sheets titled School Administrative <strong>and</strong> Support Staff.7.2.1.1 Administration <strong>of</strong> Prescribed Medications AllowanceAn administration <strong>of</strong> prescribed medications allowance is payable to school administrative<strong>and</strong> support staff who volunteer to administer prescribed medications to students <strong>and</strong>have completed appropriate training. The allowance is paid only on days worked.7.2.1.2 First Aid AllowanceA first aid allowance is payable to school administrative <strong>and</strong> support staff who hold acurrent St John Ambulance First Aid Certificate or its equivalent, <strong>and</strong> who volunteer toundertake first aid duties.7.2.1.3 Health Care Procedures AllowanceA health care procedures allowance is payable to those School Learning Support Officerswho have volunteered to perform health care procedures in accordance with agreed<strong>Department</strong> <strong>and</strong> Public Service Association guidelines <strong>and</strong> who have completedappropriate training. The allowance is paid only on days worked.7.2.1.4 Swimming Costume AllowanceThe allowance is payable, for supply <strong>of</strong> swimming costume(s) to those School LearningSupport Officers who regularly work with students undertaking hydrotherapy programs.Note:The annual allowance applies to staff who are required to work all year round inheated hydrotherapy pools.The summer months allowance applies to staff who are required to work inpools in the summer months only <strong>and</strong> for at least one full term.H<strong>and</strong>book for non teaching staff in schools 2006 V#3 31 January 2007 Page 7 - 5
