4 LEAVE4.3 ANNUAL LEAVE LOADING4.3.1 GENERALa) When proceeding on a period of recreation leave of ten days or greater, New SouthWales Government employees receive a special loading in addition to their normal salary.b) Annual leave loading for school administrative and support staff and part time temporarygeneral assistants is generally paid on the last pay day before the Christmas schoolvacation.c) Annual leave loading for permanent full time and part time and temporary full timegeneral assistants and permanent and long term temporary farm assistants is paid whenthey proceed on the first period of at least ten days recreation leave in any leave year,other than the first leave year after entry on duty.4.3.2 ENTITLEMENT4.3.2.1 GeneralStaff members are entitled to payment of an annual leave loading of 17½ % of themonetary value of up to four weeks recreation leave accrued in a leave year, subjectto the provisions below.4.3.2.2 Loading on Additional Leave Accrued – Central and Western Division4.3.3 LEAVE YEAR4.3.3.1 GeneralWhere additional recreation leave is accrued by staff members located in the centraland western divisions of the State, the loading is still calculated on a maximum offour weeks leave.For the purpose of calculating the annual leave loading for school administrative andsupport staff and part time temporary general assistants the leave year commencesat the beginning of the school year and concludes at the end of the school year.For the purpose of calculating the annual leave loading for permanent full time andpart time and temporary full time general assistants, the leave year commences on1 December of each year and ends on 30 November of the following year.4.3.3.2 First Year of ServicePayment of annual leave loading is only made on any recreation leave taken after thefirst “leave year” of a staff member's employment.4.3.3.3 Retirement or TerminationA staff member shall only be paid an annual leave loading upon:a) retirement; orb) termination by the employer for any reason other than misconduct,when the loading would have been due had the staff member proceeded on twoHandbook for non teaching staff in schools 2007 Page 4 - 20
