4 LEAVEc) Workplace conference or meeting facilities, if available, for meetings withmember(s), as negotiated between local management <strong>and</strong> the relevant tradeunion.4.15.2.8 Responsibilities <strong>of</strong> the Union DelegateResponsibilities <strong>of</strong> the union delegate are:a) establishing accreditation as a delegate with the union <strong>and</strong> providing pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>accreditation to the workplace;b) participating in the workplace consultative processes, as appropriate;c) following the dispute settling procedure applicable in the workplace;d) providing sufficient notice to the immediate supervisor <strong>of</strong> any proposed absenceon authorised union business;e) accounting for all time spent on authorised union business;f) when special leave is required, applying for special leave in advance;g) distributing union literature <strong>and</strong> membership forms, under local arrangementsnegotiated between the Director-General <strong>and</strong> the relevant trade union; <strong>and</strong>h) using any facilities provided by the workplace properly <strong>and</strong> reasonably asnegotiated at the <strong>Department</strong>al level.4.15.2.9 Responsibilities <strong>of</strong> the Trade UnionThe responsibilities <strong>of</strong> the trade union are:a) providing written advice to the Director-General about a trade union activity to beundertaken by an accredited delegate <strong>and</strong>, if requested, to providing writtenconfirmation to the workplace management <strong>of</strong> the delegate’s attendance <strong>and</strong>participation in the activity;b) meeting all travelling, accommodation <strong>and</strong> any other costs incurred by theaccredited delegate, except as provided in 4.15.2.10 Responsibilities <strong>of</strong>Workplace Management;c) paying promptly any monies owing to the workplace under a negotiated on loanarrangement;d) providing pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> identity when visiting a workplace in an <strong>of</strong>ficial capacity, ifrequested to do so by management;e) applying to the Director-General well in advance <strong>of</strong> any proposed extension tothe on loan arrangement;.f) assisting the workplace management in ensuring that time taken by the unionH<strong>and</strong>book for non teaching staff in schools 2007 Page 4 - 82
