4 LEAVEFor example, a permanent part time <strong>general</strong> assistant who works two days (15.2 hours) perweek for ten years will have an entitlement to extended leave as follows:Accrual = part time hrs per week x 44 working days x st<strong>and</strong>ard hours per dayfull time hrs per week= 15.2 x 44 x 7.638= 133.76 hours or 17.6 daysService as a part time school administrative <strong>and</strong> support staff member prior to the introduction<strong>of</strong> the School Ancillary Staff Enterprise Agreement (1995), is credited in terms <strong>of</strong> the LongService Leave Act 1955, not as extended leave.4.5.10 RECOGNITION OF OTHER SERVICEA staff member who commenced <strong>employment</strong> with the <strong>Department</strong> prior to 1 January 2006 <strong>and</strong>who had a period <strong>of</strong> service in the public service <strong>of</strong> another state, the Commonwealth, adeclared authority under the Transferred <strong>of</strong>ficers Extended Leave Act 1961, or in the armedforces <strong>of</strong> the Commonwealth <strong>of</strong> Australia <strong>and</strong> whose service is continuous shall have suchservice recognised in accordance with the requirements <strong>of</strong> the Transferred <strong>of</strong>ficers ExtendedLeave Act 1961.A staff member who commenced <strong>employment</strong> with the <strong>Department</strong> after 1 January 2006, whohad a period <strong>of</strong> service with a Commonwealth, interstate or NSW public sector agency <strong>and</strong>whose service is continuous shall have such service recognised in accordance with therequirements <strong>of</strong> Schedule 3A <strong>of</strong> the Public Sector Employment <strong>and</strong> Management Act 2002.4.5.10.2 Evidence <strong>of</strong> Other Service to be RecognisedA staff member requesting recognition <strong>of</strong> service should provide an <strong>of</strong>ficial statement<strong>of</strong> service attesting to previous service showing full commencing <strong>and</strong> finishing dates,<strong>employment</strong> basis (i.e. full or part time) <strong>and</strong> whether or not leave without pay wastaken. Statutory declarations may be used to support a request for recognition <strong>of</strong>previous service.4.5.10.3 Criteria for Eligibilitya) Staff members eligible for recognition <strong>of</strong> service are those whose services aredeemed continuous in terms <strong>of</strong> the Transferred Officers Extended Leave Act1961 <strong>and</strong> who:transferred from a department <strong>of</strong> the Commonwealth or <strong>of</strong> any State PublicService to which the various Public Service Acts apply or from the armedforces <strong>of</strong> the Commonwealth <strong>of</strong> Australia <strong>and</strong> were employed in adepartment subsequent to 24 March 1961; ortransferred from a Governmental Authority <strong>of</strong> the Commonwealth or anotherState or a New South Wales Authority, <strong>and</strong> were employed in a departmenton or subsequent to the date <strong>of</strong> publication <strong>of</strong> a notice in the GovernmentGazette that such a Governmental Authority or State Authority is declared tobe an employer under the Act.b) Under the Schedule 3A <strong>of</strong> the Public Sector Employment <strong>and</strong> Management ActH<strong>and</strong>book for non teaching staff in schools 2007 Page 4 - 29
