RATES OF PAY AND ALLOWANCESInsurance requirementsNo motor vehicle allowance is to be paid to a staff member who uses a private motorvehicle on <strong>of</strong>ficial business unless certain insurance requirements are met. Therequirements are that the staff member must have in force, at the time the vehicle isbeing used on <strong>of</strong>ficial business, a comprehensive policy or policies <strong>of</strong> insurance orindemnity, to an amount <strong>and</strong> in a form approved by the Director-General, providinginsurance or indemnity against:• liability <strong>of</strong> the Crown <strong>and</strong> the staff member to pay for loss or damage to propertyarising out <strong>of</strong> the use <strong>of</strong> the vehicle by the staff member; <strong>and</strong>• liability <strong>of</strong> the Crown to pay for loss or damage to the vehicle.Private Vehicles Damaged on Official Business or Other Approved TravelWhere a private vehicle is damaged while being used on <strong>of</strong>ficial business the Director-General will consider applications from staff members for reimbursement <strong>of</strong> excessinsurance charges where prescribed by insurers. Applications should be forwarded to theTreasury Managed Fund Section, Administration Directorate.7.2.3.4 Remote Areas Allowancea) Remote Areas - AllowancesStaff members resident in remote areas as defined below are eligible for aremote areas allowance. Part time permanent <strong>and</strong> long term temporary staffreceive the allowance on a pro rata basis. Short term temporary staff are noteligible for this allowance.Remote Area"Remote Area" means an area <strong>of</strong> the State situated on or to the west <strong>of</strong> a linestarting from the right bank <strong>of</strong> the Murray River opposite Swan Hill <strong>and</strong> thenpassing through the following towns or localities in the following order: Conargo,Coleambally, Hay, Rankin's Springs, Marsden, Condobolin, Peak Hill, Nevertire,Gulargambone, Coonabarabran, Wee Waa, Moree, Warialda, Ashford <strong>and</strong>Bonshaw, <strong>and</strong> includes a place situated in any <strong>of</strong> these towns or localities.Grade A allowances:Grade B allowances:All locations except those specified underGrade B <strong>and</strong> Grade C below.Payable to staff members stationed <strong>and</strong>resident at the following locations:Angledool, Barringun, Bourke, Brewarrina,Clare, Enngonia, Goodooga, lvanhoe, LakeMungo, Lightning Ridge, Louth, Mungindi,Pooncarie, Redbank, Walgett, Wanaaring,Weilmoringle, White Cliffs, Wilcannia <strong>and</strong>Will<strong>and</strong>ra.H<strong>and</strong>book for non teaching staff in schools 2006 V#3 31 January 2007 Page 7 - 10
