All World War II service is recognised. Injury or illnessresulting directly or indirectly from service in the armed forces but not in a warzone, is not regarded as war caused.b) Additional EntitlementStaff members who are ex-services personnel <strong>and</strong> who have an accepted warcaused disability are entitled to an additional annual entitlement <strong>of</strong> fifteen daysper calendar year non-cumulative. This is an additional grant <strong>of</strong> leave to beapplied only to absences directly related to the war caused disability <strong>and</strong> isseparate from the normal annual entitlement.c) Evidence <strong>of</strong> Disability4.11.3 LIMITATIONS ON ENTITLEMENTSTo be eligible for this entitlement, the staff member must provide a statementfrom the <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong> Veteran's Affairs, to the effect that the illness or injury isa result <strong>of</strong> service in a Recognised War Zone.First Three Months <strong>of</strong> Employmenta) The maximum amount <strong>of</strong> paid sick leave that may be granted during the first threemonths <strong>of</strong> <strong>employment</strong> is five days.b) Where more than five days sick leave is required, sick leave in excess <strong>of</strong> five days maybe granted provided that satisfactory medical certificates support each individualabsence, whether or not such absences are in excess <strong>of</strong> three consecutive working days.H<strong>and</strong>book for non teaching staff in schools 2007 Page 4 - 51
