RATES OF PAY AND ALLOWANCES(i)(ii)any leave <strong>of</strong> absence without pay exceeding five consecutive days; <strong>and</strong>multiples <strong>of</strong> whole days for periods <strong>of</strong> unauthorised absence including industrialaction.7.1.2.4 Under the Crown Employees (School Administrative <strong>and</strong> Support Staff) Award,permanent <strong>and</strong> temporary school administrative <strong>and</strong> support staff continuously employedare, subject to satisfactory performance, entitled to receive an increment at thecompletion <strong>of</strong> each year <strong>of</strong> continuous <strong>employment</strong> irrespective <strong>of</strong> the number <strong>of</strong> hoursworked in a week.7.1.2.5 An Aboriginal education <strong>of</strong>ficer who successfully completes:(i)(ii)the first stage <strong>of</strong> a relevant course <strong>of</strong> training approved by the Director-General,shall be paid the third year rate <strong>of</strong> pay;the second stage <strong>of</strong> a relevant course <strong>of</strong> training approved by the Director-General,shall be paid the fifth year rate <strong>of</strong> pay.An Aboriginal education <strong>of</strong>ficer shall not progress:(i)(ii)beyond the fourth year rate <strong>of</strong> pay unless he/she has successfully completed thesecond stage <strong>of</strong> a relevant course <strong>of</strong> training approved by the Director-General;to the sixth year rate <strong>of</strong> pay until completion <strong>of</strong> the third stage <strong>of</strong> a relevant course<strong>of</strong> training approved by the Director-General.7.1.3 PAYMENT DURING SCHOOL VACATIONS7.1.3.1 Permanent school administrative <strong>and</strong> support staff members accrue an entitlement to bepaid for school vacations based on their service within the school year. Under this systempermanent school administrative <strong>and</strong> support staff members do not separately receivepayment for recreation leave, st<strong>and</strong> down payments or public holidays that fall withinschool vacations. Rather, they are paid regular fortnightly payments over a full calendaryear.Variations to these regular fortnightly payments for vacation periods may occur wherepermanent school administrative <strong>and</strong> support staff members:• commence duty after the beginning <strong>of</strong> the school year;• are absent from duty during the school year on certain types <strong>of</strong> unpaid leave, leave athalf pay or unauthorised absences; or• vary their hours <strong>of</strong> duty or classification(s) during the school year.7.1.3.2 Temporary school administrative <strong>and</strong> support staff members <strong>and</strong> temporary <strong>general</strong>assistants who are not required to work when schools are in recess are entitled to a st<strong>and</strong>down payment at half their ordinary pay for the period <strong>of</strong> recess. The payment isconditional on them being employed for the full school term immediately preceding <strong>and</strong>immediately following the recess.The st<strong>and</strong> down payment is affected by any leave <strong>of</strong> absence without pay exceeding fiveH<strong>and</strong>book for non teaching staff in schools 2006 V#3 31 January 2007 Page 7 - 3
