RATES OF PAY AND ALLOWANCESconsecutive days, leave at half pay or unauthorised absences.7.1.4 OVERPAYMENT OF WAGES AND PAY ADJUSTMENTS7.1.4.1 “Overpayment” means an excess payment <strong>of</strong> wages or allowances. Under the AncillaryStaff in Schools Overpayment <strong>and</strong> Pay Adjustments Policy. overpaid wages may berecovered from School Administrative <strong>and</strong> Support Staff using the following procedure;(i) The employee will be informed in writing <strong>of</strong> the amount <strong>of</strong> the overpayment, themanner in which it occurred, the method <strong>of</strong> calculation, options for repayment <strong>and</strong> thename <strong>and</strong> telephone number <strong>of</strong> an appropriate contact <strong>of</strong>ficer for further inquiries.(ii) The employee is required to respond within 14 days indicating the preferredrepayment option or disagreement with the decision.7.1.4.2 Repayment can be made in two ways;(i) voluntary lump sum repayment by deduction from earnings or direct payment(ii) voluntary repayment by fortnightly deductions or fortnightly direct payment. Thisshould be at a minimum <strong>of</strong> 10% <strong>of</strong> normal gross fortnightly earnings.7.1.4.3 Financial hardship may be taken into account should the appropriate application be made.Further information can be obtained from Employee Services, Bathurst.7.1.4.4 Notifications <strong>of</strong> overpayments are made to an employee by phone <strong>and</strong>/or in writing.7.1.4.5 “Pay Adjustment” means an adjustment to ordinary fortnightly earnings. For example as aresult <strong>of</strong> an employee taking unpaid leave, leave on half pay, an adjustment toentitlements due to school holidays, an adjustment as a result <strong>of</strong> a variation in hours <strong>of</strong>work etc.7.2 ALLOWANCESThis section is divided into:Contact: employee.services.bathurst@det.nsw.edu.au 1300 338 003• allowances only applicable to school administrative <strong>and</strong> support staff (Section 7.2.1);• allowances only applicable to <strong>general</strong> assistants (Section 7.2.2); <strong>and</strong>• allowances applicable to all non teaching staff in schools (Section 7.2.3).The following allowances relate specifically to each <strong>of</strong> the categories listed below however someclassifications may be entitled to further allowances as listed in Section 7.2.3.School Administrative <strong>and</strong> Support Staff• Administration <strong>of</strong> Prescribed Medications allowance• First Aid allowance• Health Care Procedures allowance – School Learning Support Officer only• Swimming Costume allowance – School Learning Support Officer only• Higher duties allowance• Excursion – overtime payments – School Learning Support Officer onlyH<strong>and</strong>book for non teaching staff in schools 2006 V#3 31 January 2007 Page 7 - 4
