6 OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY Occupational Health <strong>and</strong> Safety Information6.7 SUPPORTING WORKPLACE SAFETYIn summary, staff are required to actively support workplace safety by:• co-operating in maintaining a safe <strong>and</strong> healthy work environment• following workplace safety procedures• being familiar with the relevant occupational health, safety <strong>and</strong> welfare policies,procedures, guidelines <strong>and</strong> programs• taking reasonable physical <strong>and</strong> psychological care <strong>of</strong> yourself <strong>and</strong> others at theworkplace• underst<strong>and</strong>ing <strong>and</strong> respecting the roles <strong>and</strong> responsibilities <strong>of</strong> others• being aware <strong>of</strong> the impact <strong>of</strong> your actions on the health <strong>and</strong> safety <strong>of</strong> others• identifying workplace hazards, assessing the risks <strong>and</strong> taking action to eliminate orcontrol the risks• wearing personal protective equipment when required• reporting incidents <strong>and</strong> workplace hazards• ensuring that work spaces <strong>and</strong> storage areas are orderly <strong>and</strong> risks to health <strong>and</strong> safetyare eliminated• participating in OHS consultation <strong>and</strong> training• following safety signs• using equipment safely• supporting <strong>and</strong> assisting injured colleagues to achieve a safe <strong>and</strong> timely return to work.• advising your principal or supervisor if you are aware <strong>of</strong> any permanent or longst<strong>and</strong>ing condition which would require currently, intermittently or in the reasonablyforeseeable future, an adjustment to your workplace.6.8 OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATIONa) The <strong>Department</strong> has an OHS website on the DET Intranet.
