Em dois estudos, classificações baseadasno espectro infravermelho próximo realizadas em carcaça quente através de fibraóptica deram resultados em que o número de carcaças classificadas erradamentevariou entre 6 e 16%. Neste estudo, um espectrômetro VIS/NIR at-line foicomparado com a versão on-line do mesmo instrumento usando fibra óptica.Como esperado, o instrumento at-line produziu menos erros na classificação doque o instrumento on-line.Também foi demonstrado que as medições ópticas de glicogênio e potencialglicolítico podem ser feitas dentro da região de comprimento de onda de 400 nma 1100 nm.1 IntroduçãoO trabalho descrito neste artigo é uma continuação do projeto “eterminaçãodo fenótipo RN em suínos na linha de abate usando espectroscopia visual e deinfravermelho próximo” (Josell et al., 2000). Foi demonstrado as medições NIR(Williams e Noris, 1987) realizadas na linha de abate podem ser usadas para separarcarcaças suínas segundo o genótipo, principalmente o gene RN - encontrado emsuínos da raça Hampshire (Eber et al., 1999, Enfält et al., 1997, LeRoy et al., 1990).Os resultados da primeira tentativa de usar NIR para classificar carcaças segundoo fenótipo RN - foram promissores no sentido de que poderia ser feita uma boadiscriminação entre portadores e não-portadores com base no espectro do NIR obtidaatravés de uma sonda de fibra óptica inserida no lombo (entre a 4 a e a 5 a vértebra daregião lombar). No entanto, houve vários problemas com esta técnica de medição queprecisavam ser resolvidos, principalmente:199
